John, I'm thinking like Greta as far as stroller-vs-wheelchair. Tina is 60 pounds now, and I'm not even going to go the route of a pediatric wheelchair (unless I can find a free one). She, like Mary get tired easily, but adores the outside. You might want to check your local craigslist. I found several in the $25-$50 range listed on mine. -----Original Message----- From: Cerebral Palsy List [mailto:[log in to unmask]] On Behalf Of greta von der luft Sent: Tuesday, May 19, 2009 10:07 AM To: [log in to unmask] Subject: Re: special needs stroller You can buy these items used which I am sure others on this list will tell you how to go about this. However, as a PT I strongly urge you to have Mary re-evaluated by a PT as it seems as if she has had a change in physical status. The PT should be experienced in obtaining adaptive equipment that encourages independence. Your insurance with a letter of medical necessity written by a PT and co-signed by a MD will help pay for any equipment. Also there are a few clubs like the Lions', Rotary, or Elks clubs will pay for equipment if you can prove to them that your insurance denied compensation/request. However, if you do decide to go through the insurance route be careful because if you purchase a jogger stroller or any other type of wheelchair it will be FIVE years before your insurance will pay for another one. So choose wisely. Take care, Greta On Tue, May 19, 2009 at 9:48 AM, JOHN RUNER <[log in to unmask]> wrote: > Does anyone have any recommendations for a special needs > stroller/jogging stroller?
