Would you accept the suburbs of civilization? (I would say the exurbs
but I looked up the definition we definitely are not there.)

I should've said we have Time Warner Cable. "When in doubt reboot the
modem..."

What satellite is that? How old are the pictures? Okay, they haven't
moved in four or five years. At least they aren't up on blocks...

We have a friend who has been doing that for a year or two, says it
works fine. We are considering the switch ourselves and so were asking
her last night.

Both houses are on the edge of civilization Come on Bruce, I've (and
Ken) been to the house, you're in the sticks (but I like it, your trucks
show up in the satellite view) (or what passes for it up here in rural
Central New York) and just barely have cell phone coverage. I'm not sure
I would do it without the cell phone backup.

Anybody got their phone service through the cable TV/internet company
(mine is Comcast)? Sounds like a hell of a deal, including free
nationwide calls, but I worry about the phones going down if the
internet does.

Further up-date, I heard this morning that New
Jersey is to blame. Seems 10 years ago they introduced 10,000 geese, for
future hunting. N.J. still doesn't allow hunting, and there are now over
2,000,000 geese.

Great, while we're sitting around yacking about
"airplane performance" Al Qaida is releasing its phalanxes of suicide
geese to decimate our already faltering airline industry, pushing us
further toward the brink of anarchy and testing both the outgoing
commander in cheif who has been trying to get some down time for the
past eight years in Washington, and that new untested one who has,
sadly, neither Vietnam nor goose hunting experience. Clearly they had
the support of Canadian operatives. Are we all going to just sit here
and take it, or move to eliminate the GMDs?

That sounds familiar but I thought I remember
one that was taking off and just fell off the runway...also wintertime.

For several years, I've had a vague recollection
of US Air having one rough year in the 1980's where planes kept falling
off the runway into Flushing Bay. May have only happened once and my
memory is exaggerating. Anyone remember this?

I don't see any floating seat cushions. Hmmm...

A close associate of ours, John Harry, also had
a recent air transportation mishap. Nose wheel failed to deploy while
trying to land at Philadelphia International. Fuel dumped, runway
foamed, all survived.

			Common thread: U S Airways

Makes you think twice about flying bankrupt
airlines. I stopped flying United several years ago during their great
bankruptcy period. I had 5 flights in a row cancelled for mechanical
problems.
