The question is what the heck was he doing in Kenya anyway? was he invited? by who? was he a reporter or a journalist? then for which news organization? all we know he is a writer and one who specializes in propagating and disseminating lies and false information. I see and have no problem absolutely with the move to detain this 'writer' in Kenya. Infact, they were lenient enough. His book Obama nation which i read has some scathing uncorroborated allegations about links between obama, kenyan govt officials, al-qaeda. This is an issue of national security for kenya and not just for the obama campaign. Kenya we all know has a fragile new government coalition, which could be jeopardize if such kind of baseless allegations are purported in that country. It can put the kikuyu against luo, and generate fresh ethnic clashes. We have to very careful in drawing inferences and make sure we have the facts as against just perception. All these efforts to try an paint obama as kenyan, muslim, terrorists, dangerous are baseless and tantamount to complete cowardice. It's an effort to keep people in dark and one that is bound to fail miserably. I admire people who are against obama on the issues and who think differently; that is absolutely fine and healthy for democracy. Nonethless, to lie and be dishonest about his personality is totally unacceptable. Integrity is an important virtue at all times regardless of the situation and whom we are dealing with in our everyday life. I remember Dag Hammaskjold (Former and late UN secretary General) wasn't loved at the time by all the parties he dealt with, but one thing that was clear was his deep sense of integrity after you deal with him. Cheers.

Anti-Barack Obama author detained while promoting his book in Kenya
Jerome Corsi, the author of a controversial book attacking Barack Obama, has been detained in Kenya and is expected to be deported, The Times' Nairobi bureau chief, Edmund Sanders, reports.

Corsi is the author of "The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality," a best-selling book whose assertions -- that Obama was raised a Muslim and is secretly seething with "black rage" -- have been widely dismissed as false and based on little more than the author's desire to derail the Democrat's presidential candidacy.

Corsi arrived in Kenya Thursday to promote the book and to investigate Obama's ties to Kenyan Prime Minister Raila Odinga, according to a news release sent to the media by Corsi's publisher last week. In a chapter of Corsi's book titled "Kenya, Odinga, Communism, and Islam," the author claims Obama gave Odinga $1 million for his 2007 presidential campaign -- a claim both Obama and Odinga deny.

Corsi was detained on Tuesday by Kenyan immigration officials for failing to obtain the proper visa needed to work in the country. He told the Associated Press that he expects to be deported soon.

Obama, whose father was Kenyan and mother was American, is wildly popular in Kenya and the U.S. election is being closely followed in the country.

Corsi played a role in the 2004 presidential election with a book attacking that year's Democratic nominee, John Kerry. "Unfit for Command: Swift Boat Veterans Speak Out Against John Kerry" hit No. 1 on the New York Times bestseller list. "The Obama Nation" spent four weeks at the top of the bestseller list.
