This is a four week experiment (though I like it so much I may continue indefinitely).  It is Tuesday of the last week and I'm 1.6 pounds from goal weight this morning.  Let me explain an interesting phenomenon.

Throughout the week, I lose weight steadily at a rate of about 3/10ths to half a pound a day.  Then the weekend comes and I loosen a bit, allowing small amounts of dairy (cheese on an omelette, for instance), perhaps a single bloody mary, sausages with nitrates or too much salt.  Without fail I gain up to two and a half pounds of water weight.  By Thursday or Friday I'm right back on track as if nothing happened.  Then the next weekend comes.  Certainly an argument for purism for me.

I expect to reach my goal by Thursday or Friday, weight wise.  I'll be taking a crack at the running record this weekend or next.
