Leland, I had articles on layout entitled "Before the Chips Fly" in early issues of Timber Framing. They were later compiled in a book my son Carson edited that was the Timber Framers Guild's first book published for sale in 1996. It was titled The Timber Frame Joinery and Design Handbook. It may still be available at www.tfguild.org. That same year I wrote a small booklet entitled "Old Ways of Measuring" which was distributed through the Guild as well It was updated in 2004. Icould send you a copy by .pdf if you would like.
