Cast: Kenneth Khambula, Leleti Khumalo, Harriet Lenabe, Lihle Mvelase. In Zulu, with English subtitles. When Yesterday (Khamula), a young devoted Zulu mother, learns that she has contracted HIV from her husband, she draws strength from her despair and resolves to stay alive long enough to see her daughter start school. As her health deteriorates and her husband continues to live in denial, she is forced to single-handedly support the family. Beautiful and heartbreaking, Yesterday puts a much needed human face on a global crisis. The film was the first South African film to be nominated for an Academy Award for the best Foreign Film. *** Send email to the list: [log in to unmask] *** *** Access AAM list archives: http://listserv.icors.org/archives/AAM.html ***
