Control Unit The cable to the main unit plugs in on the right side and the eighth-inch mono/stereo headphone jack is below it. Most buttons on the front panel have two functions with the second function accessed by holding the button down for one second. Most are toggle buttons so that one push yields one state and a second push yields another. The low beep is the "off" state or sometimes the default state. The various toggle values are listed separated by slashes in what follows. The word "AND" separates the first function from the second function; i.e., the one accessed by holding the button for one second. Many of its functions require an adjustment using the multifunction knob (the inner knob in the lower right corner). keypad 1-3 is play Channels 1 - 3 and Record Chanels 1-3. Keypad 9 is Processer off/on and compression level. Use multiknob to adjust. Keypad * is meter function or clear Keypad 0 is AGC speed slow/fast and AGC Off/on. Keypad # is Enter To directly enter a frequency, press enter, the frequency, and enter again. Use a leading zero for frequencies below 6 MHZ. Decimal is automatic. The Diamond of four keys to the right of the keypad: top is Digital Noise Limiter off/on and digital noise limiter adjust. Use multiknob to adjust. left is noise reduction off/1/2. and NR adjust. Use Use NR1 for SSB and NR2 for CW. Use multiknob to adjust. right is Audio filter bandwidth adjust and narrow filter on/off. Use multiknob to adjust bandwidth in CW mode and cut frequencies in SSB mode. bottom adjusts VFO to match frequency of incoming signal in CW mode or nulls carrier of QRM in SSB mode. In SSB mode one beep cancels a constant carrier and two beeps cancels an intermittent carrier such as CW QRM. Below the diamond are two buttons left is fine tuning off/on and tuning step size. Upper Right corner is XIT/RIT Tuning Knob Left of it is a Column of three small buttons top is offset clear (CL) middle is XIT off/on bottom is RIT off/on Under the fine tuning knob is a row of two buttons labeled TF-set up and down (use to make parameter selections within a menu). Hold either while tuning to set TX freq during split operation. The lower right corner concentric knobs inner is multi used to select menus and other multi-choice options outer is IF shift The multi knob is used for making selections initiated by other functions. For example, to select a menu, press the menu/F-Lock button (middle button left of tuning knob) to enter menu mode, turn the multi knob till the correct menu is displayed, use the up and down arrows (buttons below the XIT/RIT tuning knob) to display the desired parameter value, and finally press menu/f-flock again to exit menu mode. Main Unit Two short cords on the rear panel terminate in coax receptacles. The inner is for Antenna 1 and the outer is for Antenna 2. The Antenna tuner tunes Antenna 1 by default. Below these is the ground lug and below it is the power input. The mike plugs into the jack in the upper left corner on the front with the control cable plugging in next to it on the right. The nine-pin female jack in the upper right corner is for connecting to a computer. The lower left corner of the front has two eighth-inch jacks. The left one is stereo and is for keyer paddles.
