The simplest way is to get a Windows 98 startup floppy, insert it in your floppy drive (doesn't matter what OS you are using), boot with the disk and type in "format c:" without the quotes at the blinking cursor. The disk will be clean for most purposes, and since I suspect you don't have any super valuable financial or spy info on these drives, you should have no trouble.  If you want to erase them to Dept. of Defense standards you will have to buy software to do that.
