ALGAE AND VITAMIN B12
Have you taken your vitamins today? You may be surprised to find that humans
are not the only organisms which depend on vitamin supplements. A study of
over 300 algal species has found many rely on an external source of vitamin
B12 because they cannot make it themselves. Even more surprising is that the
vitamin B12 is probably supplied by bacteria.
