You have verified the usual suspects:

Speakers connected to proper place on computer.
Sound not set to mute.
Speakers turned on and volume turned up to audible level.

Further suggestions:

If AC powered speakers, check power supply from wall outlet/power source to
speakers and check if AC power source is functioning..
If battery powered speakers, check battery status and check to see if
batteries dislodged during move.
If computer has sound card rather than on-board sound, reseat sound card in
motherboard.

Hope these help. If not, what sounds do you not hear. Music from CD's?
Windows opening sound? Games? All sounds? That information might lead to
further suggestions.

I have a gateway computer running Win 98SE. I recently had to move it from
one room to the next. When I plugged everything back in, I no longer can
hear any sounds. I looked to see if I had the speakers in the right holes
and then I checked the volume control on the speakers, seems like those are
ok, then looked to see if I had the sounds on mute, but that wasn't checked.
I looked in control panel to see if I could change any sound volume there,
but I found nothing. Any suggestions? Thanks Christi Paulton
