HI to all. I recently changed from my long-time Dell PC with Windows ME to a used Compaq computer with Windows XP. For the most part, things have worked out well, but I do have a major problem. The problem is: when I go into http://www.radio-locator.com or http://www.npr.org or other sites that launch linked web addresses in a second window, I cannot get the second window to launch. I contacted the computer's previous owner, and he suggested I turn off Norton's Internet Security which I did (along with disabling Norton Antivirus), but it didn't help. I went into the folders menu in the Control panel and turned on and off the "Launch Folders in a Separate Process" to no avail. In the same menu, I turned on and off all three items relating to launching pairs of web pages to no avail. The previous owner had MSN's popup blocker installed. I exempted both websites and turned off the Popup blocker to no avail. I thought there might be something in the Customizable Internet Options Security Setting Customize settings area, but I looked through the list of items to disable and enable and found nothing that sounded like it could do what I wanted it to do. The former owner was very scared of viruses (he was using a DSL cable hookup), and the result is that the system contains several cleaning and antispy programs (including both AdAware and Microsoft's antispy program as well as Spybot). The former owner also has several versions of Firefox installed and Netscape Messenger loaded, bessides the Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 2 for Windows XP I am currently using. Any assistance in this matter would be greatly appreciated, as I very much enjoy listening to NPR programming and am a heavy contributor to Radio-locator. If I hear nothing, I may be forced to contact Geeks on Call (and pay a nice premium) to resolve this issue. To all, thank you in advance for assisting me with this problem.
