If you are wondering whether you'll miss any significant performance by running this processor under a 32-bit operating system, like Windows XP Home, instead of running it under a 64-bit operating system, I'd say that the practical answer is no, not really. This processor was designed to run both 32 and 64 bit software, and it is very competent at both tasks. For most of us, the more practical operating system is a 32-bit one; so, your choice to use Windows XP Home sounds like a good one to me. If you wanted to run a server or some sort of high end workstation that would be using software that could take advantage of a 64-bit environment, you might have a reason for using a different operating system, but there simply isn't enough 64-bit capable software, or even advantages to be derived from it, to make using a 64-bit operating system practical for the average user at this time.
