thats called a seek feature and its common in AM and FM broadcast radios, very different from an amateur tranceiver. They do that so people dont have to tune the signal...it just finds the strongest signals and tunes to center frequency instead of people having to spend time tuning. Amateur radios do not exhibit these features so dont worry about that kinda thing. Automatic tuner or auto tuning features that are talked about in amateur radios are refering to antenna tuners not frequency tuners.
