Hi Howard and group; The 480 is definitely on my wish list when I get some antenna problems resolved. I am wondering, however, if the cable unplugs from the front panel and or the radio? Someone also mentioned a while ago that they were having a problem with rf getting into the radio. Has this been a common problem? Further, I am using a power supply with a power cord which can not be disconnected from the supply. Does anyone no if you can purchase an extension cable which would plug into the connector at the end of the cord and terminate in the standard kenwood/icom power connector? The supply which is made by icom currently has a power connector which works with kenwoods but if I plan to put this radio out of the path, I will need a longer power cord. I am trying to avoid the obvious solution that is just cutting off the existing connector and adding more wire. Finally, since there are lots of 480 users here, the list of manuals on I can work this thing doesn't contain any quick start guide or panel description for the 480. After I see the radio I may decide that none is necessary but if someone feels inspired and has time a quick start guide and or panel lay out description would be a nice addition. I have no patience and the manual seems to drag on forever before getting to the real substance of things. 73 Rich
