What specific questions >should I ask? Hi In my opinion that it's a high dose to start on. My doc started me on 25mcgs Thyroxin and increased the dose very slowly, by 25 mcgs, every few weeks. Thyroxin leaflet reads - 'The following side effects are usually due to excessive dosage - Effects on the heart - a racing heart, irregular beats, palpitations, angina pain. Effects on the central nervous system: Headache, restlessness, flushing, sweating, heat intolerance, restlessness, difficulty sleeping, shaking Effects on GI tract - diarrhoea, sickness, weight loss, muscle cramps, muscle weakness. -- I have Hashimoto's and have lots of problems with my eyes, swelling of lower lids, puffiness etc. In my case, not caused by the medication. My question to the doctor would probably be: Why did you start me on such a high dose, I've suffered terrible side effects. Good luck!
