HEI,
AS MANY OF YOU MAY HAVE HEARD,KOFI ANNAN'S SON KOJO, HAS BEEN IMPLICATED IN IRAQI'S MASSIVE OIL-FOR-FOOD SCANDAL. IT IS PRETTY CLEAR THAT KOJO WAS EXPLOITING HIS FATHER'S POSITION TO ENGAGE IN THIS SINFUL CORRUPTION AT  TIME WHEN IRAQI CHILDREN WERE DYING OF STARVATION AND MALNUTRITION IN THEIR THOUSANDS. WHY DO THE ALREADY WEALTHY ALWAYS WANT EVEN MORE THAN THEY NEED TO LIVE CONFORTABLE LIVES? I CANNOT UNDERSTAND THIS GREED IN THE HUMAN PSYCHIE.

Microsoftâ has released a new tool (Fingerprint Reader) to ease the hassle of remembering multiple account information.  Users would simply load their account information through the tool and would subsequently log on to sites that require the information by touching the pad with their finger.

The Fingerprint Reader could not have come at a better time – given the fact that many users are doing several online transactions for gifts and other holidays shopping.  While this is a splendid idea by the software giant, it is noteworthy that the tool does not stop hackers from getting to your personal information or account if they knew your login information.

Another point worth mentioning is the fact that Microsoftâ Fingerprint Reader only works from the computer where it is installed.  So if you access your accounts from different computers the tool may be of little use to you.  Laptop users, however, can benefit from the convenience that the Fingerprint Reader has to offer.  It is also remarkable that the tool supports multiple users on the same computer, and its affordability makes it worthy of trial.

The Fingerprint Reader concept mirrors Microsoft.NET Passport, a web-based service designed to make signing in to websites easy, which I personally use to access multiple accounts that support the technology.  The service is more flexible in that one can access different accounts from any location.  On the other hand, intercepting the login information for the service means hackers having access to multiple accounts.  Your finger would have to be stolen for anyone to hack through the Fingerprint Reader.

The tool works on Windows XP and comes attached to some of the latest Microsoft’s computer input devices or it can be installed externally via Universal Serial Bus (USB) port.  Visit http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/mouseandkeyboard/features/fingerprint.mspx for more information about Microsoftâ Fingerprint Reader.
