PCSOFT Digest - 27 Oct 2004 to 28 Oct 2004 (#2004-302)i recently had an awful time setting up a new computer with xphe and sp1: it got infected while i was downloading mcafee virus scan and once downloaded mcafee found nothing suspicious (even tho' i kept getting unwanted ie pages from pornographic sites opening every time i went on-line).
i then did an on-line scan with housecall and that brought up 3 files that couldn't be cleaned.
so i downloaded kapersky av which i had big problems running (it kept freezing the system) but i finally got it to run and it identified and eliminated a number of suspects.
i then uninstalled the kapersky av, not wanting conflicts with the mcafee viruscan program i subscribe to, and now realise, in scanning with virusscan, that many of my files' names have "kavichs" on the end, with i presume is an unwanted legacy from the kapersky download.
is there any way to get rid of this unwanted addition? is it something undesirable, aside from the annoyance of having this add-on to the files?
thank you for any information you can provide,
