Here is some additional reference material for Uncle Sajar Taal, in his holy grail attempt to audit the sources of funding for the political parties in The Gambia. Between Yaya and Baba, there are tons of material on the APRC for you to form a conclusion. I'm glad you raised this question, for it will help some of our citizens realize the amount of resources these criminals are playing with, while the opposition is as clean as a whistle. Debtor MPs Given Ultimatum As Other YDE List Reveals More The Independent (Banjul) October 18, 2004 Posted to the web October 26, 2004 Banjul The debt noose on all ruling party MPs in the National Assembly may be closing tight on them as a forty-five day ultimatum was recently issued for them to honour their financial obligations, which cumulatively add up to over D4 million. Sources intimated to The Independent that the ultimatum carries a thinly veiled threat to ruling party MPs who might be held accountable should they default in paying, although documents exclusive to The Independent state that the payment schedule for the loan should last during the lifespan of the current parliamentary period. "This loan amount should be deducted from their salaries during the life span of this present parliamentary period" one such document prepared by Baba Jobe on April 23, 2003 indicated. Members of the ruling party aisle were each given a loan package of D100, 000 last year by then Majority Leader Baba Jobe to be repaid within the lifespan of the current National Assembly. The loans given to forty-five ruling party members of the National Assembly should be serviced by the ruling party debtors for a period of forty-eight months, with effect from 8 April 2003. The Independent last year published the loan arrangement, quoting its reporter as suggesting that a long queue of APRC NAMs had lined outside the Money Shop along Kairaba Avenue to receive loans of D100, 000 each. Ruling party members had vehemently denied the truth of such reports, calling them farcical. However, a letter of April 8 2003, from the clerk of the National Assembly, M. A. Sise, (MA 5/54/01/(136) to the Accountant General's Department outlined the loan payment schedule and catalogued a list of debtor NAMs, which conspicuously excludes the opposition bench and the Speaker. It indicated that a total monthly deduction of D93, 750.30 (D2083.34 x 45 members) is to be paid into Guaranty Trust Bank Account No 201100020110, being Baba Jobe account. Meanwhile another letter of April 23, 2003 from Mr. Jobe to the clerk of the House, bearing the Youth Development Enterprise letterhead instructed that MPs salaries be deducted and credited into Guaranty Trust bank Account No 201- 100554110, a separate account for the then majority leader.
