<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> This is my first time posting, so thanks for your consideration. :) I experience an exceptionally annoying ataxia reaction whenever I ingest wheat gluten. I read someplace that my genotype (below) is directly linked to ataxia... I am wondering if a double dose of the gene is possibly the cause of what is happening. If you would kindly humor me? I would appreciate hearing from folks who have ataxia as part of their reaction. 1. If you know it, what genotype do you have? 2. How quick is your reaction to gluten ingestion, in minutes/hours/days? 3. What ataxia reaction(s) do you have? 4. How severe would you consider your ataxia reaction to be, on a scale of 1-10? 1. My genotype is: HLA-DQB1*0201, 0201 2. I have a typical reaction time of 45 minutes flat, at which point if I'm not in a dead run towards a restroom, I can pretty much write off my clothing. 3. Ataxia reactions I experience: Inability to form words (talking and go blank) Inability to communicate coherently Inability to walk straight Vertigo / drunken feeling (room spins even if I'm laying down) Get so sleepy I cannot remain on my feet 4. Severity of 9; can barely function. I will summarize in a day or two, once I have a few responses collected. I consider this to be a somewhat "less-common" reaction, so I'll be patient. Kind thanks. :) -Donna *Support summarization of posts, reply to the SENDER not the CELIAC List*
