WOW!

Mr. Redd!!  Your response is immature, uncalled for and completely out of reasonable expectation. But reasonable is debatable.  Please don't personalize issues. Issues are DISCUSSED.  Everybody including yourself Alex, have equal rights to post their opinion without their status being brought into question. If you strongly feel insecure about an issue, don't post anything.  We do not have specific rules or behavior on this list.  SELF censorship Mr. Redd is the guide.

If you feel this is too much of a request, here is the information you need to censor yourself.

In such case, veteran PHd holders like you and Wilmot will always agree on the same subject matter. In short, why should I argue with big lions like you and Wilmot.

There is something intrusive about e-mail that one does not find when picking up a newspaper.  In reading this particular piece I wondered which terms of the news were newsiest. Was it the almost simultaneous weddings? Was it because the couples were Liberians? Africans? Their residing in the US? The fact that they were marrying? Their common profession? I will not claim confusion. Rather, I found a twinge of unwelcome hubris which challenged my attention span after the first paragraph. If we were frequently subjected to such news of Africans, or even just Liberians, living in the US, the AAM listserv would soon be overwhelmed. Of course it will be argued that one can use one's delete button (which I do often enough, alas, when I suspect a national trumpet in the subject line).

I agree with Wilmot
