Greetings Darryl & list-- > I am trying to open my Packard Bell Legend 106CDT to update the Hard Drive. > But I do not have the manual and cannot open the case. > > Does anyone know how to remove the exterior case? > > Darryl If it is anything like the last 2 PB computers I worked on, there are fastenings both front and rear. (The case brand, by the way, was Enlight.) At the rear, there are several small screws that clearly attach the case housing to the chassis. In the front, on the left and right sides on the bottom, there are two recesses in which can be found plastic 'tabs'. Pulling these toward the front of the case (quite hard--can be a matter of 'pinching' them with forefinger on the tab and thumb on the case front), then pulling the front plastic cover of the case toward you and up should pivot it away from the chassis. You may have to wiggle it a bit to get it around the floppy and CD housings. Once the front of the case is removed and the mounting screws are removed at the back of the case, it should be possible to slide the cover back about an inch, then up to remove it. HTH, Paul A.
