Hi to all. Lynn, so far as I know, there are no laws saying that blind people cannot teach mobility. However, there has been a question of certification. AER (Association for Education and Rehabilitation if memory serves), the traditional provider of mobility certification, for a long time, would not allow blind people to qualify for this position. This upset some, partickularly members of the NFB (Nationnal Federation of the Blind) which has started its own competing certification body (the name of which escapes me now) that will certify blind mobility instructors. The organization news organ, The Braille Monitor, has had many articles on this subject, and I expect that trend to continue. Visit NFB's http://www.nfb.org to read more information on this subject and to view back issues of the Braille Monitor for their articles on said issue. You may also want to visit AER's web site (though that url escapes me now) to find out if they are now certifying blind mobility instructors. I hope this helps. Take care.
