Hi Guys, Some years ago I spent a week somewhere in North Carolina. I had my 2 meter radio with me. When I heard a message from a friend in Florida, Clyde N4PL I took it and went down to the office to deliver it. I was told it was long distance. I complained that it was only five miles. I was asked if I were familiar with the house across the road. I was. That is a local call, everything else is a toll call. I was able to give it to someone else for delivery. In Florida, I had all of Seminole county, one town in Volusia county, all but one town in Orange county and one town in Lake county. In Connecticut, I have most of New London county. When I was in Florida, I started telling people that during an emergency net, wasn't the time to learn how to handle traffic. Several times during a hurricane when someone would check in that wanted to send a message and didn't know how. The NCS would pair them off with a regular traffic handler. I did this at least two times, once the message was originated by the other man and the other time I originated the message. Now is the time to learn how to handle traffic. 73 and good traffic handling. Walt and GEB dog Opus WA4QXT New London CT [log in to unmask]
