Another thing to be aware of is a reaction to Red 40 Food coloring. My daughter has recently been having problems with it as well as dairy. Her behavior changes dramatically, she becomes aggressive which she normally is not. She gets a terrible stomach ache and vomiting. The tummy ache lasts for almost 3 days every time she tries to eat it flares up. Red 40 is in many, many things that kids eat; breads, candy, punch drinks, popsicles, medicines, chocolate syrups, gum, pop, toothpaste. Just check the ingredients of anything colored red, pink, purple or orange and it almost always contains it. I have found some interesting sites that discuss this allergy, there is a lot of controversary about it. One discussion board I found, people say their kids have extreme behavior changes, rash, puffy eyes and vomiting from Red 40. I was really not sure at first if she was allergic to it, but have documented some days of controled diet and know that the only thing it could have been was the Red coloring. Now eliminating it from her diet she is doing fine again.
