I have found some very nice barebones systems at www.aberdeeninc.com
I highly recommend these guys. I have bought several motherboards and parts from them. They do burn-in tests on the motherboard combos and barebones systems. I think their prices are reasonable. Right now they are selling a barebones combo for $250 that I think is good.

ASUS A7V266-E KT266A ATX (MB7719)
AMD Athlon 2000+ (1.67GHz) w/ Heatsink/Fan (IC7786/MICK705)
128MB PC2100 DDR (MYDD200)
Midtower BubbleLight 350W ATX (CA723)
Teac Floppy Drive (FDNS475)

Of course you wouldn't want less than 256 MB of Ram($20). Using this setup I figure a complete system would cost around $1050-$1200. It would be a very nice system at that price. You would still need Monitor($287), Hard-drive 8$103), DVD player($44), CD-RW($61+), Soundcard+Spks($130), Video Card($200),Network card(maybe)($50) and a better powersupply. For the powersupply I would go to www.PCPowerandcooling.com 425 Watt Turbocool $136. Aberdeeninc also has a system confugirator. Using this I come up with a quote of $718, and with replacement Pwrsupply and a monitor would make $1141. For your best price you would probably want to call. Installing harddrives an CD players isn't too terribly difficult.
