<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello everyone, This subject was originally posted by another list member and I asked how many others had these lines or ridges in their fingernails. There were 32 responses. 22 people did not know what caused them. 1 person said they changed their brand of vitamins and the ridges went away. 4 people said it was a nutrition issue. 1 persons went away after a gf diet. 1 said their doctor told them nothing could be done. 1 thought it was aging. 1 was told by their doctor it was caused by psoriasis. 1 shouted that it was not connected to celiac disease. I searched the web and was able to find a couple of sites on this subject. They both said vertical ridges in the nail were an indication of poor absorption of vitamins and minerals or overall poor health or prone to arthritis or possible kidney problems. So, it appears that the ridges are an indication that something is wrong but does not point to anything in particular. I think in my case it is caused by malabsorption, and a restricted diet. I intend to take a multivitamin/mineral supplement and add a B complex vitamin to that. There are many causes for malabsorption and celiac disease is one of them. Some of you were interested in what I found out and I hope this helps a little in making you own decision. Marcus in WV *Support summarization of posts, reply to the SENDER not the CELIAC List*
