<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hello everyone! A big THANK you to all who responded to my question a while back about my reactions to certain chocolates. I am extremely late in listing these results (please read on after summary because I have several new questions). The results are in: M&M's which seemed to bother my daughter and myself--most responses indicated that many people Have HAD Reactions and most people feel there may be a problem with cross-contamination from the krispy (or is it crackle?) M&M's. So-I think I'll shy away from those. Ghiardelli Chocolate: Many people wrote to say that there is a strong possibility of wheat/gluten and that it even lists it on some packages. The ones I have been checking DO NOT say this. I was having this brand because a GI doctor told me this was ok!!!! So much for that! I will not eat this brand even if the package doesn't list it because I get sick each time. Again-thanx to all and I am sorry I did not summarize sooner, however I ended up in the hospital with severe vomiting and diarrhea! Not sure if it was food poisoning (had sushi-noy soy sauce!) or from the celiac. Yuk--sorry for being gross, but while I was in the hospital, my bloodwork came back abnormally high in blood liver enzymes (AST) and bilirubin. Does anyone have any knowledge/experience with this as a celiac? I am wondering why my liver is not normal now? I am seeing my GI today. If it helps any of you wonderful and knowledgeable people to figure this one out, In addition to CD, I also have Hassimoto's thyroiditis and hypoglycemia. Ok, my new question is Velveeta cheese and poly-o ricotta/mozzarella . I have searched the archives and the info is conflicting. I bought some velveeta to make some (rice) mac n cheese for my celiac kids and I am really not sure if this is ok. Can anyone tell me???? AND how about cocktail sauce for shrimp???? Also a quick mention that while seeing a specialist yesterday in Connecticut, I stopped by the Gluten-free pantry in Glastonbury--first time there--and picked up some goodies. Just wanted to plug that place because the ladies who worked there were SOOOOO extremely nice and helpful--even providing me with some samples of their foods to bring home to my celiac kids and gave me school lunch ideas as well. THEY are super people and worth it for some new people to this diagnosis to check out. (They have a catalog and web site if you are new) Ok--sorry this was so long....and late, but I am soooo sick! Please help with your answers and if I do not end up in the hospital again, I will summarize a lot sooner!
