Try the network card in another system to see if it is bad or good. Is
the card PCI or ISA? I have run into problems where network cards and
sound boards just did not want to coexist. Unfortunately for us, the
systems needed both!

Thanks to all who responded. It was the power supply that was bad but
another I encountered another problem when I booted the system. An
error came up in the boot sequence 'resource conflict in network
controller slot 3'. The system would halt there..just a black screen.
I could get in on safe mode every time and about 1 out of 10 times it
would boot normally. I
narrowed it down to the networking card. I did a search on the problem
and
tried several different things including disabling the network card,
checking the device manager for duplicates etc and couldn't resolve the
problem. I removed the card from the system and everything worked fine.
Since the customer doesn't need this card I left it out and they are
satisfied and took it home but I'm interested in any thoughts anyone
might have. Thanks for your help.
