I called Starkist today to find out how much Omega 3 is in their canned Tuna Fillet in Olive Oil. 244 mg per serving, making a total of 610 mg. per 6 oz. can. What they couldn't tell me is how much olive oil is added to the can. All their nutrition facts are based on drained weight. LOL......the gal (Leslie, by name) audibly gasped when I told her I don't drain it. Actually asked me twice while she was trying to find the data if I really ate the oil. Said she's never met anybody who didn't drain it. Then she asked me WHY I didn't drain it, wasn't I worried about my cholesterol?!! Told her, "Yeah, big time, that's exactly why I eat it." And told her this was the first time in nearly10 years, maybe a lot longer, that my cholesterol levels have ever been in normal range. That really got her interested. Told me she usually eats the pouch tuna in sunflower oil because there's very little oil to have to drain off. When I told her I wouldn't touch the stuff, she asked, "Why not?" followed by "Have you got a minute we can talk?" So we chewed some fat over oils. :-) Theola
