<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Hi, I am new here and have searched the archives and cannot seem to find the answers to these questions: I am newly diagnosed(4 mths) and 5 wks pregnant. Although always lactose intolerant, I seemed to be able to tolerate lactose after a few weeks of GF diet. Now that I am pregnant, I had a reaction so severe that I ended up in the hospital from a little butter in a GF cake. Now I am even more interested than ever in obtaining advice on GF diet in pregnancy, and any other precautions that I should take. Part of my celiac/lactose is that I get incredible, debilitating burps. Does anyone have any good remedies for this? I am still having problems in pregnancy, and concerned - b/c I have been GF for 4 mths now (although there have been a few mistakes as I learned what was and wasn't OK) and now am starting to have burps again. I know how to figure out which meds are OK for pregnancy, but not how to check for GF. And last, I had typical symptoms of Celiac, however, as I got closer and closer to diagnosis, my reactions became more and more severe. Now, if I have the tiniest bit of gluten, my body shuts down. I almost immediately cannot speak, I get so weak I can't pick up a spoon, I almost pass out, although my vital signs seem to be normal - and then a few hours later the intestinal symptoms start. Does anyone else experience this? My doctor prescribed Singulair and it seems to help with all of the non-intestinal symptoms, although the longer I am GF, the less it seems to help. These same symptoms occur with lactose/sucrose ingestion when I am lacking in those enzymes. I live in South America, but will be visiting San Antonio, Texas for Christmas and would like to visit a doc who has experience with Celiac and might be able to do some testing for my son. Any recommendations? Next time should I write 4 seperate messages? Please respond to me directly if you do not feel that the information is pertinant to all. I am still trying to get the hang of this. Many thanks, Emily Low Quito, Ecuador * Send administrative questions to [log in to unmask] *
