Well, here it is. It will be weeks, though, before I get through reading all these articles. Most of the articles are free on the internet. Free registration is required to access some articles and abstracts. Articles that are not free online, I obtained free at a major university health science library. It's costly to purchase articles directly from the medical journal websites. If you can't get to a university or medical school library, many public libraries have Science magazine and the New England Journal of Medicine. Some communities and hospitals offer public health libraries with some medical journals on their shelves. Use the internet to explore the periodical and journal catalogs of your local university and public libraries to see what they have available. The articles are in "pdf" file format, and you will need the Adobe Acrobat Reader to read them. If you don't have it, you can download the Acrobat Reader free from: http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html Hint: Save paper and volume by printing 2-sided copies. Use Acrobat Reader's printing option to print "odd" or "even" pages only. ------- INTRODUCTIONS TO IMMUNOLOGY: Before you get overwhelmed with medical terminology on immunology, the following websites provide introductory illustrated overviews on immunology in lay terms: How Your Immune System Works http://www.howstuffworks.com/immune-system.htm How Allergies Work http://www.howstuffworks.com/allergy.htm The Immune System http://www.niaid.nih.gov/final/immun/immun.htm ------- NEW ENGLAND JOURNAL OF MEDICINE: The New England Journal of Medicine, http://content.nejm.org/ , ran an excellent series of review articles under the heading "Advances in Immunology". Here is a list of those articles plus an NEJM article on "Molecular Mimicry" and on "Celiac Sprue". "Maternal Antibodies" is only available online from the New England Journal of Medicine website for a $10 fee. For $29 you can have full 24 hour access to all NEJM articles. All but the "Maternal Antibodies" article are available free from the website of the Department of Internal Medicine, Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University: http://www.ecu.edu/intmedresidency/CurrentResidents/reviewarticles.htm Most articles are found under the heading Immunology & Molecular Biology. "Vaccines" and "Allergy" are found under General Medicine. "Asthma" is under Pulmonary & Critical Care. "Celiac Sprue" is under Gastrointestinal Disease. While you're there, browse through the numerous other medical articles which may interest you. ------- NEJM Article List: 1.
