Hi Al, I've seen this particular error on many compaqs in my office and it always meant a bad harddrive. But don't take my word for it, you may be lucky, if you can, take this harddrive out of your Compaq and try running it in another brand pc to see if it's still works or not. Do a search under yahoo by typing in your error message and you'll see that compaqs for some reason tend to be plagued by this problem, can't tell you why though.
