Hi John and All, > Could you tell us a bit about the ifeelpixel technology? I most recently posted about it in the context of the CNN article about a computer mouse for the blind. The ifeelpixel technology is about software that works with many force feedback devices such as the tactile mice used with games (for instance the Logitech Wingman/iFeel force feedback mouse and other devices). Ifeelpixel gives tactile feedback on any graphics showing on your screen, allowing you to feel lines and other purely graphical items. The following two URLs give more information about the new ifeelpixel software: http://www.ifeelpixel.com/description/ http://www.ifeelpixel.com/download/ The ifeelpixel tactile mouse software and The vOICe Learning Edition soundscape software can be used in conjunction, to give you a soundscape view of any graph while you check out the graphical details with your tactile mouse. For instance, if you press function key Shift F9 when The vOICe window has focus, it starts sounding the graphical content of the full screen, and if you press F5 it will use inverse video to hear out dark lines on a bright background. If you then maximize the graphics window of your favourite math package to fill the screen, you can check out function plots using your tactile mouse. The ifeelpixel software will respond to lines and other graphical features. So you would get tactile feedback from the ifeelpixel software as you move the mouse pointer over the screen while you keep hearing the soundscape overview of the full view from The vOICe software. There are many other possibilities, but I hope this gives some idea. The ifeelpixel software is currently available in beta. The vOICe seeingwithsound software has been around a bit longer.
