In the end, I couldn't find any information which warned against running up to 512Mb of ram in W98SE so I put all mine back in again. However, a MS knowledge base article DID say that running more than 512Mb would work best with a modification to the ini cache settings (can't remember the specifics, but I'm sure I can find the info if anyone really wants to know) Ian Porter Computer Guys Inc.
