<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Here's a summary of which turkey and hams are GF in Canada. Apparently, I forgot to mention that I am in the States and I needed brand names, since my relatives mean well, but are clueless when it comes to cooking for those of us with celiac and multiple food allergies. Thanks to all who responded. Original post: Dear Fellow Canadians, I will be attending a party in Edmonton, Alberta, in June and my hostess wants to know which Turkeys and Hams are GF? We are also allergic to milk, corn, soy. ************************************************************************* Hamilton Easy Carve Hams are listed as gluten free right on the label. Honey baked hams and turkeys are gf is you order w/o the honey glaze. I also verified last year that Smithfield hams were gf as long as they were plain and not honey glazed, etc. BTW--make sure that your ham gets to the required temperature but don't over cook. I've noticed that the manufactures are getting very conservative regarding cooking instructions. The last two times I cooked my hams the min amount of time and they still got a little too done. Use your meat thermometer to be sure that they are done. ********* There is a Canadian gf product list there: http://www.penny.ca/Products.htm ************* Any turkey which is not previously stuffed or potentially basted is okay - and ubiquitous! You should have no problems finding just a plain turkey - make sure your hostess understands she must not stuff it, unless she uses a rice stuffing. (P.S. we're allergic to rice as well!) As far as hams go, Grimms makes a ham and labels it GF. I believe Freybe makes a labelled gf ham as well. Both were available in Safeway and Coop stores, so she should be able to find them. I imagine Superstore and IGA would carry them as well. *Support summarization of posts, reply to the SENDER not the Celiac List *
