While tracking down info about a northern do-good philantrophic gent of the 19th century who sent funds down heah to help establish black churches after the war, I happened upon a series of articles published in the 1890s in Manufacturer and Builder titled the Decay of Building Stones of the City of New York and Vicinity. At first glance it looks like it would be most interesting to all y'all NYC stone guys. Names buildings, quarries, good building stone and bad, etc. Manufacturer and Builder is in the Cornell Making of America digital libtrary and if all goes well, the following link will go to the portion of the index with the decay articles. -- http://cdl.library.cornell.edu/moa/browse.author/d.48.html -- F.
