The Gambia elected to Unicef Executive Board
The Gambia has been elected to the position of vice president of the Unicef Executive Board, representing the African Group for the period 2000 - 2003.
The board, amongst other things, takes important policy decisions as well as review Unicef’s annual budgets. The Gambia was also praised for the important strides it's making towards the realisation of the World Summit goals, especially those relating to education, health (child and maternal) and nutrition. The permanent representative of The Gambia to New York, is our representative on the board and the first regular session for year 2002 started on Monday January 21st 2002.
