Are the PC based home control systems accessible using screen readers?

How about the PC-based home control systems?  They certainly
let you monitor and set any appliance, X-10 usually, but also
things like thermostats.  For a real cheapy solution on the
temperature, you could get one of those phone responders that
are intended for vacation homes: you call it up, and it tells you
what the temperature is, and maybe whether the heat is on, all
by voice.
