<<Disclaimer: Verify this information before applying it to your situation.>> Dear Listmates - Yesterday, I had an endoscopy and a colonoscopy, back-to-back. That way, I only needed Demerol and Versed once, and everything got done in one outpatient session. I was diagnosed over 2 1/2 years ago, but had been having a few problems lately, so my gastroenterologist figured it was a good idea. He knows it is hard to do a colonoscopy on me, because I have an unusually tortuous colon, so he used a pediatric colonoscope that has an adjustable tension. While I don't recall anything, due to the Versed, he says I only said "Ow" once, which is unusual for me. When I was originally diagnosed (by the same doctor), I was yelling "Ow - ow - ow" several times, and I even remember it. This time was much better. I also asked him about the new pill that projects pictures as it passes through the digestive tract. While it can't take tissue samples, if all your doctor needs is a look at the inside of your digestive tract from mouth to derriere, before deciding whether to do an endoscopy and/or a colonoscopy as a checkup, it will be useful in the future. My doctor says he just got the pill with the camera last week, and decided to try it out on himself to see how it works. He likes it very much. He says it isn't overly large, too. Vicki
