you can watch the screen at boot up before windows loads
most machines list the cpu speed (mhz)
you may have to press the esc key if the windows splash screen comes up to
see the computer info
if it goes by to quickly you can enter setup (cmos or bios) and find the
info
in there.
 There are also software utilities to tell you your machine configuration
like testcpu :
