(Raising Our Celiac Kids) is pleased to announce that Danna Korn, renowned author of "Kids with Celiac Disease: A Family Guide to Raising Happy, Healthy Gluten-Free Children" will be speaking at our next meeting, Saturday, December 1 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Monmouth County Library Headquarters, Symmes Road in Manalapan, New Jersey. Danna Korn founded R.O.C.K. in 1991 after her son, Tyler, was diagnosed with celiac disease. It has grown to international proportions, helping families all over the world deal with the unique challenges of raising a child on a gluten-free diet, and is still the only group of its type. Her book, "Kids with Celiac Disease," is published by Woodbine House and all proceeds are donated to celiac research. She is respected as an expert on celiac disease, and is frequently asked to speak to medical professionals and celiacs around the country. R.O.C.K. is a national support group that assists families of children on a gluten-free diet. Celiac disease is a common, yet underdiagnosed digestive disorder that requires lifelong adherence to a gluten-free diet. Other members of R.O.C.K. include families of autistic children, as evidence suggests that autistic kids who adhere to a gluten-free/casein-free diet often show remarkable improvement. The R.O.C.K. meeting is open and free to the public for both parents and children. Gluten free products will be available for free sampling and autographed books will be available for purchase, too.
