Don’t Be Swaged By Monies From Jammeh – Sidia

The flagbearer of the Peoples’ Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism, PDOIS, Hon. Sedia Jatta, as part of his nation-wide tour in the run-up to the October 18, polls, held rallies at Sami Koto, Gambisara Lamoi, Sami Kuta, Diabugu Basillah, Miseraba-Mariama and Fatoto in Kantora constituency, URD. He told the people not to be swayed by the huge amounts of money President Jammeh is dishing out to them.

Speaking at the Sami Koto rally, the PDOIS flag bearer warned the people of Sami Koto not to allow themselves to be cajoled by the monies President Jammeh is dishing out to them. “Those monies are your own monies and president Jammeh is using it to coax you so that he can continue to plunder your tax monies,” Hon Jatta charged.

According to Hon. Jatta, in Garwol alone, President Jammeh is said to have dished out over D100,000 to the people, which , he said should be used to provide ambulances and drugs for health facilities for the rural people, who are dying every day on donkey cart on their way to distant health facilities or for lack of drugs. Speaking at the Gambisara Lamoi rally, Alh. Fofana lamented the condition the rural people. “We have no drugs at our health centres, our groundnuts are not bought and our sons are prevented from travelling abroad from where their remittances could provide food, pay our children’s school fees et cetera.” The APRC government, Fofana went on, has failed The Gambian people as it had dismally failed to deliver. Mansally Jatta, a youth in the village said, “Among the presidential aspirants, only Hon. Jatta held a rally here because we don’t have good roads and we’re paying taxes.

According to Jatta, the rural youths and their fathers are really desperate. “If the nuts of our fathers here cannot be bought until they have to cross the border to Senegal and the youths can’t get visas until they have to go to Mali. Where are we heading to?” he quizzed. At Diabugu Ba-Sillah, the PDOIS campaign team received a tumultuous welcome from the people who stormed the streets singing songs and praising the PDOIS leader for his vision for the country.
