Dear all, On October 18, 2001 the Gambian electorate will be faced with the most important decision on the leadership and future direction of the homeland since the 1970 Republican referendum. The choice we shall have to make are quite simply between the status-quo represented by 7 years of APRC-led dictatorship and betryal of public trust OR Change for a better Gambia, characterised by a credible leadership that is genuinely committed to serving the public good in its entirety. Freedom can only be attained if the expressed aspirations of the majority of the people is translated in to reality and their verdict is readily accepted without any attempt to manipulate or falsify their verdict. Indeed October 18 will be judgement day and the progressive and freedom-loving peoples of the Gambia who are in the majority will not sit by and allow their voice and freedoms to continue to be trampled by an alliance led by unletterred and uncultured individuals, selfish opportunists, murderers, dishonest intellectuals and armed criminals(parading as security officers). This is a WARNING to all such individuals esp, Yahya Jammeh that any attempt to undemocratically extend their reign will be fiercely resisted by the masses THROUGH ALL NECCESSARY MEANS. However, if the majority of the electorate should for some bizzare reason(s) opt for the continuation of the APRC despotism in the Gambia, their choice would be upheld. Yahya Jammeh, upon having reviewed the record of his treacherous and corrupt government particularly in the aftermath of his orders to murder peaceful student demonstrators on April 10 and 11 of 2000 and certain of his unpopularity must have assumed that his only chance of staying in power from the presidential election onwards is to defraud the will of the electorate by falsifying the true electoral outcome. In pursuit of which, he had to unconstitutionally sack the right REV,BISHOP Solomon Tilewa Johnson who does not fit in to his plan and install his tried and trusted stooge in the person of the current IEC Chairman; Gabriel J. Roberts. My message to G. J. Roberts is that although so far you have complied with the dictates of the APRC; October 18, serves as the final opportunity for you to redeem yourself from perpetual disgrace in the history of the Gambia and also possibly save the Gambia from civil strife. You should be willing and ready to depart this world as a true martyr in the honest discharge of your duties rather than to to announce under gun-point falsified results issued by Yahya Jammeh and his gang of criminals. You should only convey the VOICE of the people and if you should be murdered under such circumstances, your life would not have been in vain. You will be considered by eternity in the league of Steve Biko, Lumumba and others who sacrifice their lives for freedom. PLEASE DO NOT FAIL THE GAMBIA. Finally,We all have to redeem ourselves from the tyranny prevailing in the Gambia by advising our friends and relatives to shun the APRC. The yoke of oppression must be shattered!
