On win98, in System Properties/Performance/File System, there is under
"hard disk", a section to choose whether the main role of the computer is
"a desktop computer,a mobile or docking system, or a network server", and
it is written that different choices will change the way the disk will be
handled by the OS.

In a recording studio PC there are instructions how to increase its
performance, and it is recommended to set it to "Network server" for the
PC (although no network is installed) in order to get maximum performance.

This made me curious, about what are the differences from the point of the
operating system handling the hard disks, between those settings.

Thanks,

Uzi
