Mr. Sillah: This is a very serious issue. We must act now to prevent party split in the opposition. I just cannot believe this. As you may be aware of the UDP leadership, you must understand that all the elected members of UDP that are in the legislature were former NCP supporters. In fact Hon. Kemeseng Jammeh is still a member of the NCP executive committee. I will refrain from making any statements on the reason why such a thing would happen. I predict that there will be further division within the opposition. Some of Dibba's former supporters will follow him. While I am still an NCP supporter, I will refrain from making any further statement on this issue. Until we hear from the attendees, it is premature to speculate. This is late story and since i've seen that nobody reported it yet, i thought it wise to inform you about it...there seems to be a split in the opposition ranks over the issue of who should lead the united front against Jammeh. Well it has now been confirmed that S.M. Dibba of the NCP could not agree with the rest of the parites on the nomination of Ousainou Darboe to lead the coalition of opposition parties against president Jammeh. The parties present at the meeting were PPP,GPP,NCP and UDP. However S.M Dibba was said to have walked out of the meeting when it was propsed that Darboe should lead the coaltion. The other parties PDOIS and NRP were not present at the meeting. It is still not clear why PDOIS was not at the meeting but it has been understood that Hamat Bah of the NRP is out of the country. This is a rather interesting moment for the opposition and any split will only go to strenghten the ruling party. Am off to bed now but hopefully i will keep you posted about the latest developments on the this rather important breaking news.
