Hi All--

My PCP noticed last week that my chart lists papaya
enzyme when experiencing pain from accidental gluten
ingestion. He made a comment that I wasn't able to
clarify for him, so I thought perhaps "the experts"
could shed a little light on the issue for me.

He mentioned that if I took papaya enzyme to relieve
pain from gluten ingestion, it seemed to him that my
problem was malabsorption or inability to digest
gluten (or another food) rather than an autoimmune
process (he's still learning...willing and anxious,
but still a newbie). This is all complicated by the
fact that my blood tests and biopsy were inconclusive;
therefore, no definite diagnosis of CD.

So, why does the papaya enzyme work to relieve pain
from gluten ingestion?

Thanks for any info anyone can share - I'll summarize.

Cheers,
Ayn
