Check all possible startup locations, and remove any duplicates. Msconfig may show where each is loading from. Best to delete any duplicates rather than just unchecking in msconfig, as this won't remove anything and the problem is likely to come back. Multiple loading can slow your boot times considerably. Places to look for programs that load at startup are: Windows/Start Menu/Startup folder, Win.ini,(check the load and run lines) , Autoexec.bat, (there may be more than one, in different folders--use Find), and the registry. The keys to look for in the registry are: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServices HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunServicesOnce HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce Don Penlington Free computer tutorials at: http://www.geocities.com/donaldpen/ Also Fractal Galleries, free icons, poetry, and beautiful Queensland beaches.
