Hello Garry Sorry for the length of this post. I cannot help with reference sources, in fact I didn't realise the ARRL book was on tape. Regarding your 2/6 metre antennas, a number of manufacturers produce these as single band units or as dual banders. The fiddling about trying to source designs, hardware and then construct I believe outweighs the satisfaction of a D.I.Y. job. I don't know what is available in the U.S.A., but chatting with your chaps in your locality will probably give you some pointers. Regarding HF. As I have mentioned before on this list. I believe that the G5RV is not a sound possibility. You have a lot of measuring to make it, and then all the joints to construct soundly. Lou Varney (G5RV) himself admitted in later years that it had been outlived. He designed it in the days when we didn't have a 21 MHz allocation, and before the days of coaxial cable. The reason it has become so popular in recent years is that several antenna suppliers make them, thus making it easier to put one up. If you are going for a wire antenna, then if you are to work all 9 HF bands (here in the U.K.) or 10 in the U.S. (possibly to be 11), then just put up as much wire as high as possible, and divide it in the centre and feed it with open wire feeder or one of the manufactured 300 or 450 ribbon feeders, this gives you a doublet. The other alternative is the Windom fed about a third of the way along but this needs a balun. Both of the above need tuners. If you are using a transmit power of less than 200 watts, then you can use the sgc232 style of auto tuner. If you want to use high power then possibly a manual tuner would have to be considered. One further comment. Have you enough space for an HF yagi.
