Sorry, I forgot to change the subject header! --Liz Hello all, The following paragraphs are from a fellow list member on another email list that I am on. He was wondering if there are references on if a person's sleep needs change with the seasons. I did check in the archives for the list (I typed in winter sleep as my search) and didn't really find any references, but I did find people suggesting the book, "Lights Out" (I think that is what it's called?) Any help/insights/knowledge would be most appreciated! I asked the gentleman if I could post his email, and he said that would be great! Thanks again, --Liz Butek-Beasley --------------------------------------------------------------- I would like to pose a question that perhaps someone here can comment on. I know we are all in agreement that sleep is important to overall health and performance, but does one's need for sleep change with the seasons? Without getting into a theological discussion, man is, in essence, just a more highly evolved animal. Since many animals "hunker down" for the winter, and some even hibernate, they have fewer active hours than they do in the spring and summer. Thus, they sleep more. Can anyone site any studies that indicate, one way or the other, that there is any difference in one's sleep needs throughout the seasons? I'm a bit curious because I seem to get, and need, less sleep during summer as opposed to winter. I would really like to hear some people's thoughts on this. Thanks. _________________________________________________________________ Get your FREE download of MSN Explorer at http://explorer.msn.com
