I don't think USB was compatible with Win95. maybe you have some
hangovers from the original Win95? Is there a reason you installed
Win98SE over the Win95? That sounds like two separate upgrades - Win98,
then, Win98SE? To my lay eyes, that could have created a bunch of garbage
on your system.

Why not reinstall Win98SE "clean?" You should be able to do that by
creating a boot disk while in Win98 or Win98SE, reformatting whatever
partitions you have, and then reinstalling Win98/98SE with your new Win98
boot disk - presuming you have the requisite Win98/Win98SE CDs?
